Ruqiya Shama Tareen, MD, MBBS, DDSc.



Dr. Tareen is a double Board-Certified Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience in both academic and clinical settings. In addition to serving as Medical Director at Kalamazoo TMS & Behavioral Health, she is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Western Michigan University's Homer D. Stryker School of Medicine. Dr. Tareen also proudly serves as President and Board Member of the Kalamazoo County Medical Society, which serves to promote the betterment of public health and the medical profession.

Throughout these various roles, she is renown among her patients and peers for providing compassionate, knowledgeable and comprehensive care for patients suffering from complex psychiatric issues. As an experienced psychiatrist, Dr. Tareen takes an avid interest in a broad spectrum of psychiatric issues, especially in areas such as women's behavioral health, psychodermatology, and psychosomatic medicine. In addition to authoring Pediatric Psychodermatology: A Clinical Manual of Child and Adolescent Psychocutaneous Disorders, her research has been published in a variety of prestigious journals, as well as presented at national and international conferences.
