Education

Dr. Pavlis earned his BS in Biology after graduating Summa Cum Laude from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. He then attended Medical School at the University of Minnesota-Duluth before transferring to the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. He obtained his MD degree in 2003. He then performed an Internship year with the Sioux Falls Family Practice Residency in Family Medicine in Psychiatry prior to completing his Adult Psychiatry residency with the Sanford School of Medicine Adult Psychiatry Residency in Sioux Falls, SD.

Dr. Pavlis went on to become board-certified in Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He later achieved a Certification for Buprenorphine, which is used in cases of Opiate (pain medication) Dependence. Dr. Pavlis has extensive experience working in Psychiatric Hospitals as well as Inpatient Consultation services and outpatient Mental Health Centers.

Dr. Pavlis is currently the South Dakota State Psychiatric Director for the Division of Correctional Behavioral Health. He is also the Medical Director for Any Lab Test Now with locations in Sioux Falls and Brookings, SD. Dr. Pavlis continues to proudly serve the Native American population with the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe in Flandreau, SD and currently serves as their Medical Director. He also provides services at Western Mental Health Center in Marshall, MN. He is currently licensed in Minnesota and South Dakota.

Dr. Pavlis has special interest in Addiction Medicine as well as Neuromodulation and Psychopharmacogenomics. He looks forward to meeting you!
