Stephen E. Buie, M.D., D.L.F.P.A.
Dr. Buie provides medication management for adults with all psychiatric conditions and has a particular interest in bipolar disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, depression, and anxiety disorders. He is trained in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), a treatment for depression. Dr. Buie attended the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill as an undergraduate on a Morehead Scholarship. He obtained his medical education at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Internal medicine at Columbia University training hospital in New York and a psychiatry residency at Cornell Medical College, also in New York. Dr. Buie is an adjunct assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Asheville campus as well as program director of the Psychiatry Residency program at Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC).
AssociationsDr. Buie is a distinguished life fellow of the American Psychiatric Association in recognition of his contributions in several areas of psychiatry. He is past president of the North Carolina Psychiatric association.

Nicholas K. Ladd D.O.
Dr. Ladd is a psychiatrist who sees individuals across the spectrum of life but focuses on children and adolescents. In his work he teaches psychiatry residents from the new Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) psychiatry residency program, where they work with children and adolescents. Dr. Ladd sees patients of all ages and mental- health challenges with particular interest in first- episode psychosis/ mania, autism, intellectual disability, and PTSD. He is trained in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Dr. Ladd is dually board certified in general psychiatry as well as child and adolescent psychiatry. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, attended medical school at the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his residency and fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Health. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, hiking, and cooking.
