Elizabeth (Liz) Ferguson earned her medical degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) as part of the MD/PhD program. She completed her PhD in nutrition, working with the Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders at UNC. After medical school, she entered residency in general psychiatry at UNC followed by a fellowship specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Ferguson is double board certified in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. She is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Alabama Psychiatric Physicians Association. Her research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, and she has presented both locally and internationally on topics ranging from eating disorders to postpartum depression to developmental disorders and the psychiatric assessment of children. Dr. Ferguson performs psychiatric evaluations, consultations, and provides psychotropic medication management for children (age 5+), adolescents, and young adults with a variety of symptoms and diagnoses, including but not limited to: • Depression and other Mood Disorders • Anxiety Disorders • Adjustment Disorders • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other Neurodevelopmental Disorders • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders • Eating Disorders • Trauma-Related Disorders
